Sainte-Cécile de Masham
In 1793, Peter Savage is granted by the Crown, vacant lots of the "Township of Masham." Yet it is only in 1825 that companies Hamilton, Maclaren, Edwards and Gilmour will whisk loggers: Belanger, Cloutier, Trempe, Legros, Beaudoin, and Gauvreau to install a site and make the cut of wood. It was around 1835 that the first families moved into the "Township of Masham" to form an embryo village. Ovide Belanger was the first settler living. He was allowed to swear the first marriages, because there were no priest. Following him, other settlers came and the parish of Saint-Cecile de Masham was declared official on July 1, 1855. Therefore, the settlers gave rise to an extremely organized town, and erected chapels and churches which, unfortunately, burned one after the other. The construction of the church in place in the center of the village began in 1913 and was completed in 1954. The only road to La Pêche at the time was the mountain bike trail that connects existing Philippe, Mousseau and Meech lakes. Sainte-Cecile de Masham is now a very welcoming town and is the center of the Municipality, there are several service center and the major schools and the municipal administrative center.
