Socio-demographic Profile

The Municipality of La Pêche is the largest municipality in the MRC des Collines-de l’Outaouais, covering an area of 597.74 km2. The Municipality had a population of 7976 as at January 1, 2014. The population density is approximately 13 people per km2 on the territory of the municipality. During the 2011 census, the proportion of working age people (individual aged 15 to 64) accounted for 70% of the population, whereas the proportion of children aged 0 to 14 was 16.1% and the population of people aged 65 and older was 14%. The median age of the population was 44.5 years (by comparison, the median age in Québec was 41.9 years). Family size was 2.4 people per household and the number of private households occupied by usual residents was 3121.

Also in 2011, the Municipality had 4440 individuals whose mother tongue was French (59.2%) and 2945 people who mother tongue was English (39.6%). The bilingualism rate was 40.3% in people aged 0-19 years old, 71.3% in those aged 20 to 44, 61.1% in those aged 45 to 64 and 45.8% in those aged 65 and older.

In 2011, the profile of the population was as follows in terms of education: of the people aged 25 to 64 years old, 15.9% had no certificate, diploma or degree, 21.9% had a secondary school diploma, 15.8% had a certificate from a trade school, 18.77% had a college diploma, 2.9% had a university certificate lower than a BA and 24.9% had a university degree. The average employment revenue of the residents of La Pêche was $53,029 in 2010.
