Summer Activities at Le Mashado

Le Mashado is open and we have lots of fun activities planned for the whole summer!

Tuesdays: educational workshops
Wednesdays: biking and swimming
Thursdays: activities at Le Mashado
Fridays: activities at Le Mashado
Saturdays: free intergenerational activities at Le Mashado! These activities are for adults 55 years old and over and youth, 6 to 17 years old.

Wakefield Library

We are accepting book orders by email and telephone, with curbside pickup.

First, please make sure all your books have been returned. If you are not sure, please email us at checkbooks@bibliowakefieldlibrary.caand we will check for you. You can order a maximum of three books per week by sending an email to  bookorder@bibliowakefieldlibrary.caor leaving a message at 819-459-3266. Questions? Fairbairn House Heritage Centre
The tourist office at Fairbairn House is open weekends, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; unfortunately, Fairbairn House itself remains closed until further notice.

Activities

Despite the restrictions of Covid-19, Fairbairn House offers dynamic programming that can either be enjoyed in the comfort of your home or on site, while respecting social distancing.

This summer, we are excited to offer a registration-based FREE Living History program of activities for families. The program is designed to engage and stimulate your interest in heritage activities. Choose from an array of crafts, games and activities, which range from creating a community art mural to heritage activities, to building your own wooden steam train. The activities take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. Register now at fairbairn.ca space is limited.

Wakefield Covered Bridge – Rentals
The Wakefield covered bridge is available for daily rentals during the summer months for weddings. For rental information, please contact the Fairbairn House Heritage Centre at 819 778-3382 or email info@fairbairn.ca, or visit www.yourfairbairnwedding.ca .


The Wakefield Market is open!

As an essential service providing food to the local community, the Wakefield Market is open Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Centre Wakefield La Pêche. However, everyone must follow provincial health recommendations, and only vendors selling food, horticultural products or toiletries are allowed. Opening hours and the vendors list are subject to change during the season, so please stay connected with the market website (www.marchewakefieldmarket.ca) and Facebook page (www.facebook.com/marchewakefieldmarket) for more information.


Lake Sinclair Association

Annual General Meeting
You are ALL invited to our annual general meeting on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 10 a.m. at the Ste-Sophie d’Aldfield community centre (951, Chemin Cléo-Fournier)TO BE CONFIRMED. We are also counting on the presence of our municipal councilors. Come support your Association, and possibly win a door prize! Coffee, croissants, muffins and more will be served.

Please note that only members can vote should there be elections.

Fishing Tournament
Our fishing tournament will take place on Sunday, August 2 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the same location as in previous years – Tony Lafrance’s property ( 344, Chemin du Lac Sinclair), in compliance with Covid-19 restrictions. All participating boats are to come to this location and be registered before 8 a.m.

All participants must remain in their boats - no one will be allowed on the beach

Fish will be weighed-in by one committee member only – participants will put their fish in the bag

Des Collines Seniors Roundtable (DCSR)

Annual General Meeting
You are invited to our annual general meeting to be held by Zoom videoconference on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. We will present our activity report and the financial report for 2019. You will also be informed of the progress of our various projects: SOS proches aidants des Collines ,Bien vivre chez soi , Initiative de travail de milieu auprès des aînés vulnérables (field work initiative to assist at-risk seniors), the TAACoMOBILE , our respite care service and more.

Respite Supervision Service
We offer at home respite supervision of elderly or ill parents, which enables caregivers who need to go out to do so, knowing that their parent will be safe. The DCSR will provide a professional, qualified and friendly attendant to look after them during your absence.

Competitive rate:$5 per hour, minimum of three hours; this service is available day, evening and weekends. You may also use this service when you wish to participate in DCSR activities such as our coffee meetings or conferences.

Caregivers’ Support Group Activity
Join us for a"miles from anywhere" countryside picnic, where we can talk about these past three months of confinement and find some joy in life with others who are in the same situation.

In a gathering of infectious smiles, you’re sure to catch a good mood virus; two dates will be set aside for July and August (no more than 8 persons per group).

Sentiers Wakefied Trails - Geocaching Treasure Hunt
Wednesday July 8 and Wednesday July 15 at 10 -11:30 a.m.
Centre Wakefield La Pêche parking lot

You are invited to join us for a hike and find the hidden treasures on our local trails. You will need a smartphone, a pencil, water and a few trinkets to add to the caches. Please dress for the occasion with long pants, socks, walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. It's a free, drop-in activity.

The Canadian Red Cross in the MRC des Collines

The Canadian Red Cross in the MRC des Collines is looking for volunteers to join its emergency response team. Volunteers are essential within our community, especially when emergency situations occur, as experienced with the floods. The Red Cross invites you to wear the red vest, the ultimate humanitarian symbol, by joining its disaster service team.
