Newly appointed Director General and Secretary-Treasurer

La Pêche - August 10, 2018. At the regular meeting held on August 6, the municipal council announced the appointment of the new Director General and Secretary-Treasurer, Mr. Marco Déry.

Following a thorough and lengthy, nearly 8-week screening process, the members of the selection committee reached a decision to entrust the management of the municipality to this seasoned administrator. Mr. Déry has completed close to 30 years of service in the public sector, both at the provincial and municipal levels, as well as in the private sector. He has been responsible for budgets amounting to several millions of dollars and has managed a hundred or so employees. His professional career sums up as follows:

  • City manager and clerk-treasurer appointed by the Commission municipale du Québec for the Municipality of Baie-Trinité;
  • City manager and personnel director for the Municipality of Saint-Boniface;
  • Director general and director of human resources for the Conseil autochtone de La Tuque;
  • Superintendent of recreational services for the City of Bécancour where he is credited with carrying out noteworthy projects (setting up municipal libraries, upgrading of recreational infrastructure, elaborating the health and social services component of the emergency measures plan, etc.)

As for his education and training, Marco Déry graduated from the National School of Public Administration (ENAP) with a Master of Public Administration, and management course elective, as well as an advanced graduate diploma (DESS). He also holds a Bachelor of Recreology from the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and a Human Resource Management Certificate. He is a member of the Ordre des Administrateurs Agréés du Québec (Québec association of certified administrators), a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI) and an honorary member of AQAIRS (Québec association of recreational and sports facilities and arenas).

Mr. Déry is known for his professionalism and leadership skills as well as for his social involvement and commitment to community. With the support of council and the municipal management team, he will be up to meeting the challenges of managing our municipality and contributing to its full potential.

He is to assume his duties beginning September 17.
