La Pêche adopts a seniors’ policy
November 2nd, 2015

On November 2nd, the Municipality of La Pêche became an age-friendly community after adopting a seniors’ policy and an action plan aiming at making the municipal environment as pleasant and friendly as possible for all senior citizens.

In so doing, the Municipality wants to take into account the fact that the population as a whole is aging, and that it is important to start thinking about what can be done to ensure that people who want to stay in their living environment as long as possible, will be able to do so. The goal of the policy is to make sure that seniors are taken into account in all decisions that may encourage them to stay active and continue to participate in the community, and also aims at promoting a culture of social inclusion.

The age-friendly initiative was launched in 2014 by the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais with the help of the “Table autonome des aînés des Collines”. The seniors’ policy is the result of a collaborative effort from local participants including citizens, elected officials and employees from the municipal administration.
